The FT’s Gillian Tett writes that Donald Trump’s team, using the services of Cambridge Analytica, beat the Clinton camp and the Democrats at the data game.

‘Like almost everything else in the politics of 2016, appearances were deceptive. Behind the scenes, Mr Trump’s aides used data in an innovative way. There are lots of companies which, like the Clinton team, think they are unbeatable because of past technological success. But technology can change, and nimble, fast-moving start ups can win in surprising ways.’
